About

My name is Jim Baumer and I’m a non-fiction writer, based in Maine. Back in 2005, I released my first book, When Towns Had Teams. The book was independently published via RiverVision Press, the micro press I started to get my ideas to market.

The book was awarded an IPPY in 2006, by Independent Publisher, as their top non-fiction title for the northeast. The award helped validate my efforts at DIY publishing and helped lend some credibility to what I was attempting to do.

Fast-forward to 2007 and I’m feeling a bit antsy about moving my writing forward. While I’ve managed to get a new title out the door in June (a book by another writer), I’ve come to realize that publishing has dampened the urgency to write that drove me forward with my first book project.

I have some ideas that need to work themselves out and I’m jonesing to get back to my original vision that got me rolling with the first book. I’m hoping that this blog might be a place to develop ideas rooted in people and places, which is where my writing heart resides.
